Congratulations to SMGS Management Team of Conor Forde (Blarney GAA) Sean O' Callaghan (Inniscarra GAA) David O' Callaghan (Glen Rovers) and members of our u16 Blarney Hurling Squad on their incredible victory.

What a spectacle this turned out to be in Pairc Uí Chaoimh 4G where a last gasp winner in injury time from super sub Darragh O Driscoll allowed Blarney to clinch the coveted title. Carrigtwhoill will wonder how this game slipped between their fingers as they had an 8 point lead with 6 minutes to play.

SMGS started the game explosively with two goals from the incredible Bobby Fitz and the ever-dangerous Seán Lynch. Points from talisman Sam Hassett and Josh Murphy increased the lead but this was shorted lived however as Carrigtwohill, playing with the wind, settled into the game with a flurry of lovely scores that left them leading by 5 at half time on a scoreline of 2-6 to 1-14.

A nervy second half start from SMGS let Carrigtwohill increase their lead to 8 for much of the second half but stalwart defending from Captain Killian Galvin, Ryan O Leary, Steve Crowley, Conor Gleeson, Garrett O Sullivan and Eoghan O Keeffe kept Carrigtwohill at bay.

SMGS’s never say die attitude from Daniel McCauliffe, Jack Donovan, Zach Brady and Sam Hyland gave them a sliver of hope leading into the final minutes. And that’s all they needed as with 6 minutes to go, two moments of magic from Bobby and the outstanding Sam Hassett saw Blarney get two goals in as many minutes. This lead to a nail biting finish where the tigerish Darragh O Driscoll burst through the Carrig defense and buried home Blarney’s fifth and final goal at the death.
