The U15 boys took part in the P1 hurling Feile yesterday at sunny Ballincollig. They were drawn in a very strong group with near neighbours Ballinora and Ballincollig.
First up was Ballinora and it was nip and tuck in the first half. However, Blarney conceded two goals in the second half to go down on a scoreline of 3-5 to 0-4.
Ballincollig were next up with the winners going through to the semifinals on Sunday in MTU. Again, there was nothing between the teams in the first half but Ballincollig opened up a three point lead with five minutes to go in the game. Try as they might, Blarney couldn’t get the goal that would have seen them advance and eventually lost out on a scoreline of 0-6 to 0-3.
Unfortunately, Blarney’s preparations were hampered by injuries to key players. This was telling at a P1 level where there is no margin for error with only five other teams in the County playing at that grade. Nevertheless, it was a great experience for the boys.
