The Blarney U14 footballers had a hard-fought victory over St Michaels in the Mid Division 1 League Final played at Blarney yesterday, winning on a scoreline of 2-11 to 2-07.
Blarney raced into a five-point lead early in the first half but were pegged back by two goals for St Michaels to leave them trailing at the break by a point.
In the second half the Blarney team upped the work rate and regained the lead shortly after the restart. However, they were never able to pull away from St Michaels and it remained a battle right to the finish. In the end though, Blarney stood strong to ensure that the league cup was presented to captain Bobby Fitzgerald.
It was a fantastic way to end the competitive football season for this Blarney team who secured a clean sweep of the Division 1 football titles on offer.
