Wednesday evening started out bright in the 4G pitch in Pairc Ui Caoimh. It was warm and seasonable and a wonderful evening to play football.
Football Feile Semi Final - Blarney v Cloch na Coillte.
Blarney showed heart and determination. It was a challenging game against a strong side. Half time score was Blarney 1-2 to Cloch na Coillte 0-3.
Cloch na Coillte came out strong in the second half but our boys dug deep and the final score was Blarney 3-4 to Cloch na Coillte 1-6.
This led the Blarney team into the Football Feile Final against local rivals Na Piarsaigh.
Again, this game was a strong challenge and the Blarney boys demonstrated great skill and team work. The half time score did not bode well for Blarney - we were down 6 points. (Blarney 0-1 to Piarsaigh 1-4).
You'd love to have been a fly on the wall for the half time team talk because the boys came out fighting in the second half and really showed the grit they possess. Again, there was great team play demonstrated and the game could have gone either way. Unfortunately, as the weather disimproved, so too did the outcome and this time it did not go our way. Blarney lost by 2 points.
However, the whole evening was a very positive and entertaining experience and as parents and supporters we look forward to many, many more positive outings as we go forward. The boys, too, had the privilege to have the Cork dressing room for the occasion, which was a thrill in itself.
Final Score = Blarney 1-5 to Na Piarsaigh 2-4.
Well done to the boys, their coaching team and all involved, on reaching the final.
